Why Partner With Tradecraft

We do the expensive part.
You get the part you actually need.

Every contractor in San Antonio knows the math. Bringing on a green hire means paying someone to learn safety, tools, terminology, and job-site habits on your clock, on your trucks, in front of your customers. Then some wash out in month two. Tradecraft absorbs that stretch before you ever meet them.

What a green hire usually costs you

Six weeks on your dime

  • ×A senior tech pulled off billable work to supervise and explain the basics.
  • ×Safety orientation, hand tools, and terminology taught in the field.
  • ×Certification costs and scheduling handled after the hire.
  • ×No read on attendance or work ethic until they are already on payroll.
  • ×Turnover from people who found out the trade was not for them.
Cost estimates vary by company. Run your own numbers on a recent entry-level hire.
What Tradecraft handles first

Handled before day one

  • Six weeks of full-time, hands-on training on industry-standard equipment.
  • OSHA 10 completed for every graduate, plus EPA 608 in the HVAC program.
  • Tool handling, safe work practices, and trade vocabulary already in place.
  • Six weeks of documented attendance and punctuality you can evaluate.
  • Students who invested in their own training and chose this trade on purpose.
Certifications listed are included in tuition. Tradecraft charges hiring partners nothing.
The Standard

Built like a job site.
Not a classroom.

Every day is spent doing, not reading about it. Students train on industry-standard gear and keep a 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM schedule, Monday through Friday, just like a real job site. The habits you want on a crew are the habits we grade on.

Who Is Standing Next To Them

Taught by people who ran the jobs.

Our program directors were not hired out of academia. They came off the trucks, out of the shops, and off the job sites, and they teach the way they were taught. That is why graduates arrive knowing how the work is actually done, and why they take pride in doing it right.

Why It Works For Employers

We cut everything that doesn't matter.

Traditional trade programs are loaded with filler: general education requirements, electives, administrative padding. We stripped all of it. Every hour a student spends here builds skills you can put to work.

Built for the job site

Designed by working tradespeople, not academics. Every hour maps to work that entry-level crews are actually doing in this market.

Hands on from day one

No months of lectures before touching a tool. Real equipment, real installs, real scenarios starting in the first session.

Certifications included

Tuition covers the certifications commonly required on local job sites. Graduates leave with credentials in hand, not a plan to get them later.

Already self-selected

These are people who invested in their own training and gave up six weeks of full-time hours to be here. Motivation is clear before you interview.

Small cohorts, real attention

Instructors know every student by name and know where each one stands by week two. When you ask about a candidate, you get a straight answer.

A direct line to graduates

Career placement assistance is available to graduates, and partners get a direct channel to the cohort. Employment is not guaranteed by Tradecraft Schools.

Ways To Get Involved

Partnership is not just a job posting.

Some partners want to meet graduates. Some want a hand in shaping what gets taught. Pick the lane that fits where your company is right now, and change it whenever you want.

01

Meet a graduating cohort

Come to campus in the final week, walk the training floor, and talk with students while they are still working. No formality, no fee, no commitment to hire.

02

Share your open entry-level roles

Send us what you are looking for and we pass it directly to graduates through career placement assistance. You decide who advances and who you hire.

03

Guest instruct for a day

Bring a piece of equipment, a war story, or a problem your crews hit last week. Students remember the person who showed them something real.

04

Join the trade advisory council

Sit down with our program directors and tell us what you wish entry-level hires already knew. Curriculum feedback from hiring managers shapes what we teach next.

05

Sponsor equipment or a lab bay

Put your brand and your gear in front of every student who trains on it. Sponsored labs carry partner recognition on the training floor.

06

Host a site visit

Let a cohort see your shop, your trucks, and your standards mid-program. Students who have stood on your site show up to an interview already understanding the work.

How Partnering Works

Four steps. No paperwork maze.

1

Reach out

Send one message about your company, your trades, and what your crews need. It goes straight to campus leadership.

2

Tour the campus

Walk the training floor while class is running. See the equipment, meet the directors, and judge the standard yourself.

3

Meet the cohort

We notify you when a group is finishing and connect you with graduates whose trade and schedule match your openings.

4

Make the call

You interview, you decide, you hire on your own terms. We stay in touch after, because your feedback shapes the next cohort.

When Graduates Are Available

All three trades graduate on the same day.

One trip to campus, every trade in the building. HVAC, electrical, and plumbing cohorts finish together, so a single visit puts you in front of graduates across all three programs instead of scheduling three separate conversations.

EMPLOYER QUESTIONS

The things contractors ask us first.

Everything you need to know about partnering with Tradecraft.

What does it cost to partner with Tradecraft?
Nothing. There is no fee to tour the campus, meet a cohort, share your open entry-level roles, or hire a graduate. Tradecraft is funded by student tuition, not by placement fees.
What certifications does a graduate actually hold?
Every graduate completes OSHA 10 during the program. HVAC graduates also complete EPA 608. Electrical and plumbing graduates finish prepared to register as apprentices in Texas. All certification costs are covered by tuition, so nothing is pending at the time of hire.
Are these graduates licensed tradespeople?
No. Tradecraft is a pre-apprentice training program. Graduates are prepared for entry-level apprentice roles and continue their licensure path under a licensed employer, which is how the trades have always worked in Texas. What we change is how much they already know on day one.
Does Tradecraft guarantee that a graduate will accept a role?
No. Career placement assistance is available to graduates, and employment is not guaranteed by Tradecraft Schools. Graduates choose where they apply and employers choose who they hire. Our role is to make the introduction and make sure both sides know what they are getting.
What wage should we expect to offer?
That is your call. Wages are set by the employer based on the role, the market, and the candidate. We do not set wage expectations for our graduates or for our partners.
Can we see attendance or performance information on a candidate?
We can speak to what we observed during the program with the graduate's permission. Students release their own records, and we will not share anything a graduate has not authorized us to share.
We are a small shop. Is this worth our time?
Small shops tend to get the most out of it, because one bad entry-level hire hurts more when there are six people on the payroll. Meeting a cohort costs you an hour and gives you a read on several candidates at once.
Who do we talk to?
Employer inquiries go directly to campus leadership, not to the admissions team. You will be talking with the leadership team that can directly coordinate partnership opportunities.
Talk To The Right Person

Employer inquiries skip the queue.

You are not a prospective student and you should not be routed like one. Partnership conversations go straight to campus leadership.
